PLAYAS DE SEATTLE

Que sí, que Seattle es conocida mundialmente porque se tira todo el puto día lloviendo por sus incesantes lluvia, eso todos lo sabemos. Es normal. Está en el noroeste pacífico, al lado de Canadá, a un paseíto en avión de Alaska, a cuatro pasos del inmenso y frío océano, es decir, pretender que no haga frío y lluvia es como pretender que en Marruecos no haga calor. Pero STOP, no os vayáis todavía que oís lluvia y os volvéis paranoicos, y eso que en España estáis de sequía. No todo iba a ser precipitaciones en Evergreen, ¿no? Dice la leyenda que el otoño y el invierno de Seattle es el sacrificio a pagar para tan magnífico verano (En realidad no lo dice la leyenda, lo digo yo que lo he vivido, pero también nos vale). Poder pasear durante todo el día sin morirte de calor o poder echarte una sábana por encima por las noches son cosas que uno agradece. Y es que cuando se mezcla este magnífico clima, con el infinito verdor y un skyline de miedo, salen fotos como estas:

It's true that Seattle is wordly known because it's all the fucking day raining because of its continuous rain, everybody knows it. It is normal. It's in the Pacific Northwest, next to Canada, very near by plane from Alaska, a few steps from the huge and cold ocean, this is, pretending not to be cold or rainy is as we pretend that in Morocco is not hot. But STOP, don't go yet, that you listen to talk about rain and you become paranoid, taking into account that in Spain there is drought. Not all in Evergreen will be precipitations, won't be? According to the legend, fall and winter in Seattle are the sacrify that you have to pay to live an amazing summer (Actually there is no legend, I say it because it's what I live, but it's good for you too.) It's fantastic walking during all the day without dying by hot or sleeping with a sheet at night. And when you mix this amazing weather, with the infinite greenish and a grand skyline, you can take photos like this:

“Pero yo estoy leyendo este artículo por las playas”, estaréis pensando. Tranquilos, que a eso ibamos ahora mismo. Seattle está rodeado de agua, hay agua por todas partes, y a veces, cuando el agua se asienta en un determinado sitio, se conforman playas; pues bien, Seattle está lleno de ellas.

Empezaremos por, la que para nosotros es la joya de la corona: Golden Gardens: Resumiendo, es una playa de arena al oeste de Seattle, en el que la gente, el volleyball y las fogatas crean un clima perfecto de buen-rollismo y colegueo (también postureo sí, no todo el mundo es perfecto). Es un mustGo si estás en Seattle. Aquí hemos visto de jugar al volleyball a auténticos profesionales, hemos fracasado en el intento de imitarles (aunque mi saque sigue siendo potente y liftado, xD) y hemos disfrutado de unos atardeceres espectaculares tumbados en la arena.

"But I'm reading this post because of the beaches," you would say. Take it easy, that's what we are going to do right now. Seattle is surounded by water, there is water all around, and sometimes, when it stays in a specific place, it creates beaches; right, Seattle is full of them.

We are going to start with the one that , according to us, is the crown jewel: Golden Gardens. To sum up, it's a sandy beach in the west of Seattle, where the people, the volleyball and the fires make a perfect environment of good vibes and brotherhood (there is also posing, not everybody is perfect.) It's a mustGo if you are in Seattle. Here we watched real proffesional voleyball players practising, we tried to copy them failing (although my kick off continues being powerful and lofted, xD) and we enjoyed espectacular twilights laying on the sand.

En el número dos Madison Park, que es una playa de césped. Sí amigos, habéis leído bien. Para aquellos que cada vez que van a la playa tienen que irse de ella sin un microgramo de arena porque se te mete en la entrepierna y de camino a casa o al hotel te irrita los cojoncillos, esta playa es la respuesta. Lo mismo, buen rollo, sitios cerca para tomar un cocktail y, todo hay que decirlo, el agua está un poco mas caliente que en Golden Gardens, ya que es una playa interior. Además dispone de trampolín, aunque nuestra experiencia no fue muy buena ya que vimos en primera persona como una pobre chica se partía la pierna de la siguiente manera, que resumo en tercera persona: "Tras varios saltos increíbles en los que captó la atención de los que estabamos allí presentes, se dispuso a hacer otro gran salto cuando, inesperadamente, resbaló en el trampolín y cayó de forma aparatosa al agua. Cuando logró salir a flote, se le escuchó decir, como el que dice 'buenos días', 'I broke my leg' (me he roto la pierna). Juancar, incrédulo, fue a mirar si la chica necesita ayuda y se encontró con una grotesca lección de anatomía". Pobre chica, esperamos que esté bien, aunque seguro que se lamentó más de lo que hay que pagar aquí por una cama en el hospital, aunque tengas seguro. Ya hablaremos de eso más adelante.

In the number two we find Madison Park, a grassy beach. That is dude, you have read good. It's perfect for those that each time they go to beach they have to leave it without a microgramme of sand because it goes to your innner thigh and going back to your hotel or house, it irritates your balls. You can find the same things, good vibes, places very close to have a cocktail and, we have to say all the true, the water is a little hotter than in Golden Gardens, because it's an inner beach. In addition, it has a trampoline, though our experience wasn't good, as we could see how a poor girl broke her leg in the following way: "After some amazing jumps which catch the attention of those who were there, she got ready to do another incredible jump when, suddenly, she slipped on the trampoline and fell down in a showy way into the water. When she was able to pop up, we could listen to how she said, the same way you can say 'good morning', 'I broke my leg'. Juancar, sceptical, went to know if the girl needed some help, but he found a hideous anatomy lesson." Poor girl, we hope she is ok, though for sure she complained more by the price of a bed in a hospital here, even if you have an insurance. We are going to talk about it in future posts.

Luego está Magnuson Park, otra playa de césped muy parecida a Madison Park pero un poco mas a las afueras de Seattle. Esta es mas familiar y grande; además dispone de un montón de barbacoas para pasar un gran día no sólo tomando el sol, sino haciendo auténticas cosas americanas (además de la barbacoa), como jugar al fútbol americano o tirar el frisbee.

Then it's Magnuson Park, another grassy beach very similar to Madison Park, but a little more in the outskirts of  Seattle. This one is bigger and more familiar; also, it has a huge amount of barbecues to have a good day not only sunbathing, but also doing authentic american things (as well as the bbq), such as playing american football or throwing the frisbee.


Otra de las joyitas es Alki Beach. Ésta se ubica en West Seattle y, al igual que Golden Gardens, la playa es de arena. Tiene unas magníficas vistas del skyline de Seattle que puedes disfrutar tomando una cerveza fría sobre la arena (en vaso de plástico, sin que se note), o en una de las muchas terrazas que tiene, o como quieras hacerlo, pero seguro que disfrutarás de ello.

Another jewel is Alki Beach. This one is in West Seattle and, as Golden Gardens, is a sandy beach. It has amazing views of the skyline of Seattle that you can enjoy having a cool beer on the sand (using a plastic glass, without becoming obvious), or in one of all the terraces you can find here, or as you prefer, but for sure you will enjoy it a lot.

Como punto y final, cabe mencionar otra de las playas de las que disfrutamos este verano, que se ubica en Everett (a unas millas (1 milla = 1,6 kilómetros) al norte de Seattle), la cual es bastante íntima, al contrario que todas las demás, ya que no mucha gente baja desde el parque, cruzando las vías del tren para disfrutarla. Y es que diciendo la verdad, lo único bueno que puede tener es la intimidad, porque el agua está bastante fría y además, cuando empieza a subir la marea, que lo hace muy pronto, se come toda la playa y te tienes que ir de allí. Eso sí, al igual que todas las demás, bonitas vistas.

The last one is another of the beaches that we enjoyed last summer, which is placed in Everett (some miles (1mile = 1,6 km) in the north of Seattle), that it is so intimate, in opposition to all the previous ones, because no too much people go down from the park, crossing the train rails to enjoy it. And saying the truth, the only good thing that it has is intimacy, because the water was so cold and, when the tide starts rising, it is so fast and all the beach disappear quickly, so you have to leave very soon. Of course, the same than the others, it has very beautiful views.
